A STEM program refers to an educational curriculum or initiative that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. CPT (Curricular Practical Training) and OPT (Optional Practical Training) are employment authorization programs in the United States that allow international students on F-1 visas to gain practical work experience in their field of study.

CPT is a type of work authorization that allows F-1 students to participate in paid or unpaid internships, cooperative education programs, or any other type of required practical training while the students are studying.

OPT, on the other hand, is a program that allows F-1 students to work in a job directly related to their field of study after completing their degree. It can be used both during and after completion of studies and provides temporary employment authorization for up to 12 months (for most students) or up to 36 months for students in certain STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
